The Sacred Valley of the Incas Tour from Cusco is one of the most popular experiences for travelers who want to explore the history, culture, and landscapes of the Peruvian Andes in a single day. Located between dramatic mountains and fertile farmlands, the Sacred Valley of the Incas was a key agricultural and cultural center of the Inca Empire. On this Sacred Valley day tour, you will visit remarkable archaeological sites such as Pisac Archaeological Park and Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site, as well as the traditional Andean village of Chinchero, where ancient traditions are still alive. With hotel pickup, comfortable transportation, and an expert guide, this tour offers a convenient and authentic way to discover one of the most fascinating regions of Peru before continuing your journey to Machu Picchu.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas was one of the most important regions of the Inca Empire, known for its fertile lands, pleasant climate, and strategic location between the Andes mountains. Because of these conditions, it became a key agricultural center that supplied food to important cities such as Cusco. Today, visiting the Sacred Valley allows travelers to understand how the Incas lived, farmed, and organized their society.

On this Sacred Valley tour, you will visit places rich in history such as Chinchero, known for its traditional weaving and colonial church built on Inca foundations; Pisac, famous for its agricultural terraces and artisan market; and Ollantaytambo, one of the best preserved Inca towns and home to an impressive archaeological complex. This experience also connects easily with a visit to Machu Picchu, making it a practical option for travelers who want to explore the history and landscapes of the Andes in a short time.

Itinerary

STOP 1

Hotel Pickup and Departure from Cusco

Your Sacred Valley of the Incas tour begins with hotel pickup in Cusco at around 7:40 AM. From there, we travel through the Andes toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas. During the drive you will see mountain landscapes, traditional villages, and agricultural fields that characterize this historic region of Peru.

Visit to Pisac Archaeological Park

Our first stop is the impressive archaeological complex of Pisac. Located high above the town, this site is famous for its agricultural terraces, temples, and panoramic views of the valley. During the guided visit, you will learn about the importance of Pisac in the Inca Empire and how the terraces were used for agriculture and food production. After exploring the ruins, we visit the artisan market in Pisac, where local communities sell textiles, crafts, and traditional souvenirs.

After visiting Pisac, we continue the journey through the Sacred Valley toward the town of Urubamba. Known for its fertile lands and mild climate, Urubamba is often considered the heart of the valley. Around midday we arrive for a lunch break, giving you time to relax and enjoy local cuisine before continuing the tour.

In the afternoon we visit the historic town of Ollantaytambo, one of the best preserved settlements from the Inca period. Here we explore the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site, including the famous Temple of the Sun. From the upper terraces you will have wide views of the town and surrounding mountains while learning about the strategic role Ollantaytambo played during the Inca resistance against the Spanish.

Our final stop is the traditional Andean village of Chinchero. At the Chinchero Archaeological Site you will learn about Inca agricultural terraces and local history. We will also visit a textile center where artisans demonstrate traditional weaving techniques, including how wool is cleaned, dyed with natural plants, and woven into colorful Andean fabrics.

After visiting the main sites of the Sacred Valley, we return by road to Cusco. The tour usually ends at approximately 6:30 PM, concluding a full day exploring the history, culture, and landscapes of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Helpful Information

We recommend arriving in Cusco at least one or two days before the tour when your itinerary involves altitude, hiking or long travel days. Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals the night before and keep a flexible mindset because mountain weather can change quickly.

For the best experience, travel with only what you need for the day, protect yourself from strong sun and cold wind, and follow your guide’s instructions at viewpoints, archaeological sites and trail sections.

To reserve Tour Sacred Valley of the Incas, send us your preferred travel date, number of travelers and any special requirements. Our team will confirm availability, explain the next steps and provide clear payment instructions.

Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive the essential details for pickup, preparation, what to bring and how to contact us before departure. We recommend booking early during high season, holidays or when the tour includes limited-entry sites.

An Unforgettable Salkantay Trek

We traveled from Canada and booked the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. Everything was organized very well from the briefing in Cusco to our final visit to Machu Picchu. Our guide was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable about the mountains and local culture. The trek was challenging, especially around Salkantay Pass, but the team always made sure everyone felt comfortable. The scenery was incredible and arriving at Machu Picchu at the end made the whole experience unforgettable.

Excellent Choquequirao Adventure

We traveled from the UK and chose the Choquequirao trek because we wanted a quieter and more adventurous route. It was definitely demanding, but the organization was excellent. Our guide knew the trail very well, kept a good pace for the group, and shared fascinating information about the archaeological site. The scenery was spectacular and reaching Choquequirao with very few other visitors around was a special experience.
