Itinerary

Day 1

Cusco – Cachora – Santa Rosa Baja

We will pick you up between 5:30 and 6:00 am to begin our adventure. After a journey of approximately 4 hours, we will reach the community of Cachora an d then Capulliyoq (2,890 m / 9,482 feet), a privileged spot to observe the snow-capped mountain of Padreyoq (5,771 m / 18,930 feet) and the Apurímac Canyon, the second deepest canyon in the world. We will then descend for about two and a half hours to a place called Chikiska (1,900 m / 6,234 feet), where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. After a refreshing break, we will continue our descent to the bridge at the Rosalina Beach area, where we will reach the lowest point of our trek (1,550 m / 5,085 feet). Then, we begin a 3-hour ascent to our first campsite, Santa Rosa Baja, where we will camp in tents, and our cooking team will be waiting with dinner.

At 5:00 a.m., we will enjoy a hearty breakfast to ensure we have plenty of energy for today’s hike. At 6:00 a.m., our ascent will begin, and after 2.5 hours, we will reach Marampata (2,870 m / 9,416 feet). From here, we will walk for another 2 hours to Choquequirao, the Inca citadel, where we will visit the different main sectors of this Inca city. After lunch inside Choquequirao, we will continue exploring the citadel. After a day of visiting Choquequirao, it’s time to return to Marampata where we will enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night in tents.

On this day, after breakfast, we will begin our walk at 6:00 a.m. We will start our descent to Santa Rosa Alta, then to Santa Rosa Baja, and continue on to Rosalina Beach (1,550 m / 5,085 feet). From there, we will ascend to Chikiska (1,900 m / 6,234 feet), where we will enjoy our lunch. After a refreshing break, we will continue the ascent to Cocamasana, our third campsite.

At 6:00 a.m., after breakfast, we will face our final physical challenge, which will be a 3-hour ascent to reach the Capulliyoq pass again. There, the bus transport to Cusco will be waiting for us. After 4.5 hours, we will arrive in Cusco, where we will drop you off at San Francisco Square, two streets away from the main square in Cusco.

This program operates in the Andes, where weather, road conditions, local regulations and visitor controls can occasionally affect timing. The route order may be adjusted by the guide when needed to improve safety, avoid crowds or respond to operational conditions. Any adjustment is made with the goal of protecting the quality of the experience.

Helpful Information

We recommend arriving in Cusco at least one or two days before the tour when your itinerary involves altitude, hiking or long travel days. Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals the night before and keep a flexible mindset because mountain weather can change quickly.

For the best experience, travel with only what you need for the day, protect yourself from strong sun and cold wind, and follow your guide’s instructions at viewpoints, archaeological sites and trail sections.

To reserve Choquequirao Trek 4 Days, send us your preferred travel date, number of travelers and any special requirements. Our team will confirm availability, explain the next steps and provide clear payment instructions.

Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive the essential details for pickup, preparation, what to bring and how to contact us before departure. We recommend booking early during high season, holidays or when the tour includes limited-entry sites.

An Unforgettable Salkantay Trek

We traveled from Canada and booked the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. Everything was organized very well from the briefing in Cusco to our final visit to Machu Picchu. Our guide was friendly, patient, and extremely knowledgeable about the mountains and local culture. The trek was challenging, especially around Salkantay Pass, but the team always made sure everyone felt comfortable. The scenery was incredible and arriving at Machu Picchu at the end made the whole experience unforgettable.

Perfect First Visit to Machu Picchu

We came from the United States for our first trip to Peru and booked our Machu Picchu visit through the agency. Communication was clear before the tour and all the transfers, train arrangements, bus tickets, and guiding were coordinated smoothly. Our guide at Machu Picchu explained the history in a very interesting way and gave us enough time for photos and questions. It was a stress-free experience and exactly what we hoped for.

Beautiful Day in the Sacred Valley

We are from France and really enjoyed our Sacred Valley tour. The landscapes were beautiful and the guide gave us a great introduction to Inca history and local traditions. Pisac and Ollantaytambo were especially impressive. The transport was comfortable, the schedule was well managed, and the staff answered our questions quickly before the trip. It was one of the best days of our stay in Cusco.

Excellent Choquequirao Adventure

We traveled from the UK and chose the Choquequirao trek because we wanted a quieter and more adventurous route. It was definitely demanding, but the organization was excellent. Our guide knew the trail very well, kept a good pace for the group, and shared fascinating information about the archaeological site. The scenery was spectacular and reaching Choquequirao with very few other visitors around was a special experience.

Amazing Five Day Salkantay Experience

We came from Australia and completed the five-day Salkantay Trek. The entire experience was better than expected. The mountain views were incredible, the meals were very good, and our guide was supportive throughout the trek. He explained what to expect each day and helped everyone manage the altitude. We especially loved the change in landscapes as we descended toward the warmer valleys. Finishing with Machu Picchu was the perfect ending.

One of the Best Treks We Have Done

We are from Denmark and have done several multi-day hikes, but the Salkantay Trek was one of the most memorable. The route was beautiful and varied, and the team worked hard to keep everything running smoothly. Our guide was excellent and paid attention to how everyone was feeling at altitude. The group atmosphere was very positive and reaching Machu Picchu after several days of hiking felt incredibly rewarding.
