To make the most of your trip to the South Valley of Cusco with Top Inka Travel, we suggest bringing an ID or passport, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a water bottle, and during the rainy season, a light rain poncho. It’s also useful to carry a notebook if you wish to jot down interesting facts during the tour, as our bilingual guide will share fascinating stories that connect myths, architecture, and traditions.
If you plan on taking photographs, ask about the best times of day: early in the morning or towards the afternoon, when there are fewer visitors and the natural light is softer. In Andahuaylillas, for example, the afternoon lighting highlights the colonial murals in a special way.
The Cusco South Valley is located between 3,500 and 4,000 meters above sea level, so it is recommended to acclimatize for at least one day beforehand in Cusco. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and walk slowly; our guides will be attentive to assist you at all times.
Most tours begin with pickup from hotels in central Cusco, San Blas, or Wanchaq. The journey in private transport takes between 1 and 2 hours per leg, depending on the starting point, always with the comfort and safety that characterizes Top Inka Travel.
Regarding health and safety, the South Valley is peaceful and less crowded than other tourist areas. We recommend using sunscreen and bottled water for greater comfort. During the tour, we carry oxygen, thermal blankets, and a basic first-aid kit, because your well-being is our priority.
